Group Therapy

I Can Therapy knows the importance of affordable and convenient assistance. While groups aren’t perfect for everyone, they add benefit for most. Groups nurture socialization and foster support systems in addition to the skills gained on the specific topic!

See some examples of groups we offer below:

  • Want to improve your skills in the kitchen? This activity is for you! This will be a class mainly working on snack preparation or simple meals. We will create edible meals/snacks while also creating a comprehensive cookbook. The OT will assist with recipe following, cooking safety, and hygiene. This provides you with a fun environment, giving you a chance to connect with peers, learn a new recipe and gain cooking skills!

  • Enjoy a sit down dinner with peers! The dinner place will be determined by the group participants and will rotate each dinner club. The OT will assist with social conversation, manners and money handling for each client. You are responsible for paying for your own meal!

  • Enjoy the outdoors (weather permitting) while socializing with peers. The OT will help guide conversations for optimal inclusion and social appropriateness to match everyone’s abilities and interests. Gain friends while also getting your body moving!

  • Enjoy dancing as a form of exercise! This group will be for all abilities and skill sets with dancing. The OT will assist with direction following and physical abilities while the group creates a dance routine. Have fun dancing to music and get your body moving!

  • Enjoy a fun activity, either of the arts & craft type or the snack prep variety (depends on the class) with peers! The OT will assist with following directions, improving fine motor coordination and strength while creating something cool.

  • Come play board games and socialize with peers! The OT will assist with facilitating social conversation, implementing board game etiquette and ensuring all abilities are included! There is food and drink available for each client to pay for themselves.
